The EyeBag® Company was started by Professor Teifi James, a consultant ophthalmologist and ophthalmic surgeon working at Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
In 2004 after many years of explaining how to use hot flannel compresses to countless patients, he decided to design and patent his own version of a warm compress - a re-useable product which is conveniently heated in a microwave. He is now Managing Director of The EyeBag® Company which he runs alongside his clinical practice.
The EyeBag® is a wholly UK manufactured product with production, packaging and distribution all carried out in West Yorkshire. Even the flax contents are locally sourced. We run a lean and highly efficient operation which allows us to fulfil our customers’ requirements quickly and yet maintain a close relationship with both our retail and trade customers.
In fact the consumer can call us for advice during normal business hours or send an email to receive a guaranteed personal response.
The EyeBag® Company has enjoyed sustained growth over the past 10 years and we now have representation in much of continental Europe and Australia. We will soon be distributing our highly effective product in America, Canada and the Middle East.
Teifi is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in London and holds the Diploma in Ophthalmology from The Royal College of Surgeons of England. He qualified from St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, in 1983 and specialises in the treatment of ocular inflammation.
